Day 1 - Friday - September 3
Flights arrive into Chicago and transfer on your own to the Fairmont Hotel in the heart of Chicagos newest neighborhood, New Eastside. Sandwiched between the Chicago River and Millennium Park, it has a prime locale right on the lakeshore. The neighborhood is extremely vertical with several residential buildings and hotels topping the 40-story mark. For the most part, New Eastside caters to single working adults who enjoy the good life, paired with the convenience of being steps from the lakefront and walking distance to the Loop. http://www.dreamtown.com/neighborhoods/new-east-side.html Just 13 miles from Midway Airport; 17 miles/40 minutes from OHare International Airport our hotel for the weekend is in the perfect location for fun! Check-in with our Singles Travel International Director upon arrival at the hotel. Need help with sightseeing, shopping and dinner reservations? Were here to make sure your vacation is everything you dreamt it would be! This evening, we kick off the weekend with a Welcome to Chicago, 2-hour cruise on Lake Michigan with heavy hors d'oeuvres, a complimentary drink and our own DJ. Mary Delia shows us the way and the "lay of the land" on a 15 minute walk to Navy Pier. We'll cruise the banks of Lake Michigan with the stunning Chicago skyline as our backdrop. Mingle, dine and dance with new friends, rekindle old friendships and get insider tips from our local, Chicago members! After dinner, we head back to the hotel for a nightcap at the beautiful Aria Bar, walk over to Michigan Avenue for some live Jazz at Andys or jump in a taxi and party all night long on the famous "Rush Street".
Day 2 - Saturday - September 4
Good morning! Breakfast is optional, but weve got some great recommendations. This morning, we get an insiders view of the highlights of Chicago with one of 3 fascinating tour options. Please make your selection from the Options Tab when reserving your Chicago Jazz Weekend. Chicago Film Tour In less than 2 hours, we'll take you over 30 miles, venturing from Chinatown to Uptown, Lakeview to Downtown and everything in between. The Chicago Film Tour hits more than 30 sites where over 50 movies were shot. Movies range from Hollywood blockbusters like The Dark Knight and The Fugitive, Chicago favorites like Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Blues Brothers, and movie classics like North by Northwest and The Sting. Chicago's Original Gangster Tour These guys are gonna take you places. The Prohibition Era comes alive as our costumed gangster guides take you on a ride back to the days when Al Capone ruled the South Side of Chicago. Hear the true stories -- as only our charming guides can tell 'em -- of gangster legends like Dion O'Bannion, Bugs Moran, Johnny Torrio, Machine Gun Jack McGurn and John Dillinger. The Official River Cruise of the Chicago Architecural Foundation Chicago's most popular River Cruise! CAF-certified expert docents interpret the world-class architecture along the Chicago River. Marvel at Chicagos soaring towers while enjoying a 90-minute, narrated river cruise. This tour spotlights more than 50 architecturally significant sites where you will discover a new perspective on the city. Come aboard the vessels of Chicago' Finest Fleet where both open-air and climate-controlled indoor seating make the journey comfortable. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase on board each vessel. The afternoon is at leisure to visit Navy Pier, shop, sightsee, take in a museum, or of course, listen to cool jazz by the lake. The festival is in full swing from noon to 8:00 p.m. Our evening is at leisure and STI has reserved the best tables in town. Whatever your pleasure, our Singles Travel International Director, Mary Delia is available to assist with making plans. After dinner, we all meet up again in the "Rush Street" area where there are plenty of clubs from which to choose, including our annual haunt, The Hangge Uppe or if you prefer, Jillys Piano Bar where well sip a drink and dance to swing and Sinatra. Maybe one of our members has the talent to give us a tune and if not, keep your eye on the piano, you never know who may be in town! STI members invited, no cover, no minimum, but you must be over 21.

Breakfast is at leisure. If you have a late flight, we recommend The Original Billy Goat Tavern, a Chicago institution. "Cheezborger! Cheezborger! No fries, cheeps! No Pepsi, Coke!", but they also do a darn good bacon, egg and cheese on a roll. Check out at noon and transfer to the airport for our flights home. Safe journeys! Our weekend in Chicago is a walking weekend. In other words, all of our activities are within walking distance of our hotel (6-8 blocks or closer).
